When it comes to this week’s #fitchic of the Week, Cat Frias, one of the hardest lessons she had to learn was that only she could fully change her life- no one else. With a kick in the butt, a lot of determination, her goals laid out and her #fitchic Why she knew failure would not be an option coming into 2019. In the fall of 2018, Cat, an Army wife and mom of three from Massachusetts, underwent a complicated abdominal hysterectomy that changed her life at just 30 years old. From that point forward she knew she needed to put herself first, get her health in gear and focus on fitness to drop weight and feel good again, inside and out. She set the bar high for herself knowing that this was her year to put one foot in front of the other and be the best version of herself going forward. We are so happy to have her on our #fitchic squad for life. If you didn’t know, Cat creates most of the content you read on inawefitness.com, so, for a change this week, we decided to ask her a few behind the scenes questions about her #fitchic journey so far and share them with our #fitchic squad today so you could get to know her a little bit better.
When did you begin your fit journey?
“I learned about Amber and Flat Belly Battle through my friend, Amanda. She gushed about how much Amber and Britni had changed her life and helped her refocus her goals, lose weight and gain her confidence back. I trusted her opinion and knew that I needed to be a part of a group of like minded, powerful, goal-crushing women. I needed to lose over 50 pounds to reach my goal weight and was feeling discouraged, unattractive and unhealthy. I thought… a meal and fitness plan fully organized for me? Accountability that keeps me in line? I need to try this!”
What is your #fitchic Why?
“My journey began for so many personal reasons. I wanted to be healthy inside and out. I wanted to learn how to eat right, exercise and be consistent with both. I knew I was at my unhealthiest point and refused to move farther and farther away from my goal. Being a full time employee, student, wife and mom of three kids aged 9 and under is absolutely fulfilling but downright draining. I lost myself somewhere between the homework assignments, work deadlines and dirty laundry. I knew I needed to be the best version of me for myself and my children. I also wanted to feel sexy again and rock a hot, neon bikini in the near future. Why not, right?! Recovering from my major surgery was a reality check for me. I needed to make myself a priority again.”
How has your fit journey been so far?
“Amazingly eye-opening, to say the least. I trust Amber and Britni with my life. They have proven themselves to me time and time again when I doubted my own strength and abilities. So far, since January, I am down almost 40 pounds and in love with my journey. I never thought I’d yearn for 5:00 AM gym sessions by myself but now it’s my peace before I begin my hectic day. I have a new found love for the stair stepper that just won’t quit and love seeing my progression week after week. I am so proud of the woman I am becoming thanks to In Awe Fitness. I am excited to see where the remainder of 2019 and beyond take me. After I hit my goal weight I hope to gain muscle and be a strong, healthy and sexy fit momma and #fitchic for life!”
